Energy Conservation

Legislation effective from 2008 outlines China's approach to energy conservation. The provisions cover specific sectors including construction activity, transport, and manufacturers of different kinds, including special requirements for key energy consuming entities. New energy-saving technology is promoted in government policies, while use of wasteful and obsolete technology is restricted. Energy consumers are required to take certain measures in management including training and analysis of their energy use. Energy-efficiency labeling is required to appear on certain energy-consuming products, together with the option of a certification label for products conforming to high efficiency standards. Preferential tax policies and subsidies support promotion of conservation, and pricing for electricity may be subject to certain adjustments to promote more responsible energy use.
