Water Pollution

Enterprises which discharge pollutants into the country's lakes and rivers are required to conduct assessments on the potential environmental impact that they operations could cause to the local water resources. Related permits are generally required for a factory to begin operation and an enterprise polluting drinking water sources runs the risk of being shut down.

Air Emissions

All enterprises and construction projects that discharge air pollutants must abide by standards set by the state and local governments. Various technologies are encouraged or promoted to help foster cleaner air, while obsolete and polluting machinery and technology are restricted. Enterprises must pay discharge fees for air pollution, keep equipment and vehicles within prescribed standards, and operate within applicable quotas on total volume or limits on discharging certain substances of concern.

Noise Pollution

Standards set by the state or local governments on noise pollution limits must be abided by. Special emphasis is placed on construction projects, and noise occurring in populated areas. The manufacture, sale, or import of motor vehicles is also restricted based on the levels of noise such vehicles produce. In addition, designated noise-making machinery that has become obsolete is being phased out.
